Faculty Research and Development Grants

Faculty Research and Development Grants are funded by the Office of the Provost and administered by the Research, Scholarship, and Creativity Committee. Proposals are reviewed in October and March. Support for Students in Undergraduate Research


The Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creativity (URSC) Grant

The Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creativity (URSC) Grant is intended to support independent research by students. Guidelines and the proposal outline are available at the Student Resources webpage, under the “Forms” heading at the bottom of the page. Proposals are reviewed monthly between Sept. 1 and May 15. Student Travel Awards

Student Travel Awards are available to support students presenting their research, scholarship, or creative works at a professional meeting, conference or exhibition. The awards provide up to $500 for approved expenses. Proposals are reviewed monthly between Sept. 1 and May 15. Guidelines and the proposal outline are available at the Student Resources webpage, under the “Forms” heading at the bottom of the page. Celebration of Scholars

The Celebration of Scholars is held annually to recognize the exemplary research, scholarship, and creative works of faculty and staff. The Research, Scholarship, and Creativity Committee(RSCC) conducts the review process, which begins in February with a call for proposals. More details, including presentations from last year’s Celebration can be found at the link above. Questions can be directed to RSCC@carthage.edu.

National Conference on Undergraduate Research

The National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) is the largest conference dedicated to the work of undergraduate students. NCUR is held in late March or early April, at campus locations across the country. Carthage provides support for students whose abstracts are accepted for presentation. The call for abstracts typically occurs in November, with notification in January. For more information contact Dennis Munk at dmunk@carthage.edu.
