Carthage’s Health and Wellness Program focuses on events that positively affect the well-being of the Carthage community, as well as the Kenosha community. Be sure to check the schedule for future events! Programs include:
Maintain Don’t Gain Holiday Challenge
This program challenges students, faculty, and staff to maintain their weight over the holidays — for their own health, and fun prizes. Participants are weighed (confidentially, of course!) before Thanksgiving, and again in January. Those who stay within three pounds of their initial weight win a prize! Participants also receive healthy recipes, exercise tips, and other resources along the way. Last year’s participants even lost half of a pound on average!
Every Kid Needs a Superhero 5k
Started in 2014, this annual spring 5k run/walk is a must-see event. Participants dress up as superheroes to benefit the Kenosha Boys and Girls Club. This event welcomes the Carthage and Kenosha communities to come together and run/walk for a purpose. Are you going to be a superhero? Go to Everykidneedsasuperhero.com for more details. The 2017 event will be held on May 13.
Tim Rucks Memorial Flag Football Tournament
Carthage alumni, parents, students, and friends are invited to join us for this celebration of the late Coach Tim Rucks! Ages 18 and older are invited to participate in this flag football tournament and bean bag tournament to help us honor Coach Tim Rucks.
Fall Frenzy Expresso Bike National Tournament
Expresso bikes are a fun interactive alternative to ordinary cardio. Each year they hold a national tournament challenging colleges to bike as many miles as they can on these bikes. Carthage participated in their first tournament in 2014 reaching the Elite Eight. In the Elite Eight, the “Riding Red Men” were defeated by defending national champion LSU after biking over 1,200 miles in two days. The Fall Frenzy Tournament is held every October.
The annual Fitness Fair in the TARC lets students, staff, and faculty learn about TARC programs. The fair includes healthy food samples from Sodexo, and informational booths from Carthage student organizations such as the Future Fitness Professionals Club, the Belly Dancing Club, and Active Minds. Here you can also sign up for personal and group training as well as the Expresso Interactive Bikes.
Fitness for Finals
The Future Fitness Professionals offers a variety of fun fitness and stress relief events during Finals Week, including Water Zumba, Sunset Yoga, and Outdoor TRX.
Students participate in the 2013 Costume Run, held on Halloween in the TARC.
