CARTHAGE COLLEGE FACULTY MEETING MINUTES
February 2, 2006
Dean Piepenburg called the meeting to order at 11:55 a.m.
Harvard Stephens delivered the invocation.
Minutes of the meeting of December 1, 2005 were approved as written.
Greg Baer asked for faculty assistance in the interviewing of Lincoln Scholarship applicants. He stressed the importance these interviews have on the quality of incoming freshmen.
CONVERSATION WITH THE PRESIDENT
President Campbell restated his support for Lincoln Scholarship competition. In a recent staff meeting with SPS, special thanks were expressed for the faculty support of the SPS programs. At the upcoming Board meeting, approval for construction of villa # 2 is anticipated. Work continues on the planning process for the 2010-2015 Strategic Plan. A discussion was held regarding minority student recruiting and retention rates.
REPORTS OF COMMITTEES
Aaron Trautwein asked for faculty volunteers to accompany the Alumni to Chicago on July 22 and 23 to visit the museums, aquarium, etc., as part of the Alumni College Program.
Leslie Cameron announced that Dave Schlichting would be giving a presentation titled “Demystifying Income Taxes ” on Feb 21st.
Harvard Stephens reported that the College was participating in profiling study of the Kenosha and Racine school districts regarding better preparing their graduates for college.
