CARTHAGE COLLEGE FACULTY MEETING MINUTES
April 6, 2006
Dean Piepenburg called the meeting to order at 11:50 a.m.
Harvard Stephens delivered the invocation.
Minutes of the meeting of March 2, 2006 were approved as written.
CONVERSATION WITH THE PRESIDENT
Dean Piepenburg announced that the CONVERSATIONS WITH THE PRESIDENT are working well. There was good attendance at the informal discussions held in the Clausen Center.
REPORTS OF COMMITTEES
Lynn Loewen announced elections for the Personnel and Tenure Committee. FEC nominees were Patrick Pfaffle and Rom Maczka. Nominations from the floor were Elaine Radwanski, Pascal Rollet, and Mimi Yang. Rom Maczka and Patrick Pfaffle were elected by written ballot.
Christine Rener announced that the Fall Faculty Retreat will focus on Diversity.
Curriculum Planning Committee
Rick Matthews, for the CPC, moved revisions to the Theater Department major and minors. They were seconded and the motion carried. He moved 7 new courses for approval. They were seconded and the motion carried. He moved the changes in five classes. They were seconded and the motion carried.
For information purposes, Rick presented topics courses.
Christine Rener, Director of Faculty Development, and Dan Miller, Director of Academic Institutional Review, reported on their attendance at the North Central Accreditation Meeting.
A series of announcements were made about upcoming activities in the month of April and grants that have been received.
