    A Milwaukee native, Brian Melk is a versatile and accomplished bassist. A proven orchestral musician, he has appeared with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Wisconsin Philharmonic, the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra, the Kenosha Symphony Orchestra, and is a section bassist with the Madison Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Mr. Melk spent a season as an associate with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Mr. Melk has also attended the Sewanee Summer Music Festival and the Orford Academy in his summers.

    As an educator, Mr. Melk has maintained a private studio since 2009, and has appeared as a guest clinician at several high schools in the Milwaukee area and guest masterclasses at UW-Madison. An active member of the bass community, Mr. Melk has volunteered his time at the 2011 International Society of Bassists convention, and at the Richard Davis Foundation for Young Bassists from 2009-2013. Mr. Melk has a Bachelor’s degree in music from UW-Madison and a Master’s degree in music from Northwestern University. Mr. Melk’s primary teachers have been Laura Snyder, Richard Davis, and Andrew Raciti.
