Roger Moreano arrives at Carthage College as the new Assistant Director of Student Involvement for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Programs. Roger has 21 years of experience in higher education including work in financial aid, admissions, student activities, and putting together new student orientation programs at the community college level.
Roger’s most extensive experience is in diversity, equity, and inclusion work. His work has focused on retention of students of color and underrepresented groups, on and off campus educational programs, international cultural service learning trips, working closely with faculty to provide co-curricular learning opportunities, conducting campus climate surveys on diversity and inclusion, teaching first year seminar courses, serving as a Title IX campus reporter, and more.
Prior to arriving at Carthage, Roger spent 12 years as the Director of Intercultural Student Affairs at Elmhurst College in the suburbs of Chicago. Roger is also the Founder and President of BRIDGES Consulting, LLC. — a diversity and inclusion organization which conducts organizational leadership and LGBTQ and anti-racism training for K-12 schools. Since 2007, Roger has also served as a Co-Lead Facilitator for LeaderShape, Inc., a nationally acclaimed leadership organization that provides participants with a transformative six-day leadership program for college students centered on values and leading with integrity.
Roger has also served on the Village of Gurnee, Illinois Diversity Steering Committee from 2005 to 2008 and he also co-authored the Village of Gurnee diversity statement. Roger lives in Gurnee and has been married for 19 years to his partner, Maria. They have three high-energy teenagers who are the joy of their lives — Zoe, Zachary and Alexandra. He says being a father and a husband have been his most favorite and rewarding experiences in his life.

Main responsibilities at Carthage
Roger provides direct academic support to underrepresented students, student organizations, and first generation students; provides educational diversity programming for students, is involved in retention efforts, leads a pre-orientation program for first generation students, provides support to the Student Involvement and Student Affairs team, and serves as a member of the campus Diversity Committee.
