Give three words that sum up your internship experience.
Cutting-edge, inspirational, enjoyable
How did you learn about your internship?
“I learned about the internship by the Carthage College Career fair. I’ve always been interested in the tech industry so I researched the company and position.”
Describe your internship.
“As a sales intern, our responsibilities were exciting and challenging. We gained real-world career experience by engaging with major tech companies such as Google, Dell, Cisco and many more. We received projects on selling, marketing, professional development and learning about technology.”
What do you enjoy most about your internship? What are some of the challenges?
“This was one of the most enjoyable internships that I have experienced. We were part of a large intern class and had the opportunity to learn about each other. I was fortunate enough to work with talented individuals while making connections. One of the challenging parts of this position is to remember all the technical information on the products and services that the company offers. However, CDW does an excellent job in helping and preparing us on everything we need to know to be successful.”
How does your internship fit with your long-term career goals?
“This internship gave me the opportunity to continue working during the school year. I was offered a full-time career to work in sales after graduation.”
During your internship search, how did you make yourself stand out to employers?
“I made sure that I understood what the company was all about and did my research. I also shared my past internship experiences to the college recruiters. They appreciated the amount of community service I was involved in and my leadership experience.”
What did you find to be the most helpful during your internship search process?
“I feel like the best job search is by focusing on those who you find to be the most interesting. In this way, you encourage yourself to learn more about the company.”
Do you have any tips to share with other students about your experience?
“Many students are afraid to try new things. I believe you should take risks and experience the challenge. Do something today that your future self will thank you for.”
