Give three words that sum up your internship experience.

Community, local, tourism

How did you learn about your internship?

I was working at a different visitors bureau and I contacted the KACVB to see if they offered internships for college students.

Describe your internship.

Feature downtown businesses by writing Business Spotlight articles for Downtown Kenosha Inc. , review and update business directory listings, curate photos and videos to update website, assist with social media efforts, and event support and servicing.

What do you enjoy most about your internship? What are some of the challenges?

I enjoy learning about the Kenosha community! As someone who is not native to this area, I don’t have nearly as many local connections.

How does your internship fit with your long-term career goals?

I am getting great experience with writing for media and being behind the scenes for big events. I can see myself as an event coordinator or social media manager in the future so many of my internship responsibilities are relevant to my career goals.

During your internship search, how did you make yourself stand out to employers?

I already had experience working at another visitors bureau so I think that sets me from others who may have been interested in interning at KACVB.

What did you find to be the most helpful during your internship search process?

I have attended several networking and professional development events at Carthage that have helped me learn how to fit into a professional environment.

Do you have any tips to share with other students about your experience?

Go to networking dinners! Have an advisor or mentor review your resume! Take as many opportunities as you can to experience new things!
