Give three words that sum up your internship experience.
Rewarding, Fun, Challenging
How did you learn about your internship?
“I was interested in doing an internship this semester related to environmental science and Career Services helped me find some options.”
Describe your internship.
“I am an Education Intern, so I work with the naturalist to help with and lead the programs at the Nature Center. We have programs for adults, kids of all ages, families, and scouting programs. My favorite program so far is the once a month Nature Story Time with the 5 year old and under children. I get to read them a story and then I plan a craft, game, or song and dance activity to go along with the story. I love seeing the kids get excited about animals and nature and seeing how much they able to learn and remember.”
What do you enjoy most about your internship? What are some of the challenges?
“I have had to learn how to balance school and all of my other activities along with work. Being a graduating senior, I have also been working on applying for jobs and other opportunities after graduation as well as taking upper level biology classes. Overall I am proud of how I’ve learned to balance all of this and the time management skill that I have gained.”
How does your internship fit with your long-term career goals?
“I am interested in working with parks or the department of natural resources when I graduate.”
During your internship search, how did you make yourself stand out to employers?
“I worked really hard on making my resume highlight the skills that I’ve gained from my past experiences.”
What did you find to be the most helpful during your internship search process?
“I found the Career Services office to be very helpful during this process. They helped me find opportunities and get connected with employers.”
Do you have any tips to share with other students about your experience?
