For more than a year, the College has been looking for a new Learning Management System (LMS) to replace e-Learning. After a lengthy search and a thorough evaluation process, I am pleased to announce that our new LMS will be powered by Schoology.

Campus-wide implementation will take place during fall 2018.

During the spring semester, our new LMS is being piloted by 20 faculty members across 65 courses. The pilot will help us refine the platform’s functionality, ensure a smooth integration with our Student Information System (SIS), and help us build more robust faculty training opportunities.

Several training opportunities were made available to those participating in the spring pilot. Similar opportunities will be made available to all faculty in April, May, and throughout the summer, including late August. Faculty will have ample opportunity to learn how to use our new LMS and to prepare for their fall classes.

During the initial rollout, our new LMS will be reserved for classroom use only. At some later date, hopefully during spring 2019, we will begin to expand its functionality to include a range of administrative and campus community functions. At that time, training information will be made available to all who are interested.

Stay tuned for more announcements!

Special thanks go out to Michelle Hobbins and Carol Sabbar for their continued support and leadership throughout this process. Also, I want to thank all the faculty and staff who participated in various parts of the evaluation process; your feedback was critical. Finally, I want to thank all the LIS staff who are working on the technical and integration issues related to this transition; these people include Max McGrath, Chris Grugel, Mike Kishline, Lisa Robleski, and Dan Sullivan.

I am very excited about the myriad opportunities for creativity in teaching and learning that our new LMS will bring to the campus.
