There will be a planned partial campus electrical power outage on Tuesday, Dec. 26. This outage is required to connect The Tower to the campus high voltage distribution loop. There will be two additional power outages in 2018. These outages will include selected facilities on the southern portion of the main campus. Here’s the schedule for two of the upcoming power outages:

  • Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017 — 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

The following facilities will be without electrical power during this outage: Oaks 1-6, Madrigrano Hall, Campbell Student Union, The TARC, Tarble Arena, Todd Wehr Center, Denhart Hall, and Johnson Residence Hall.

  • Tuesday, March 6, 2018 — 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

The following facilities will be without electrical power during this outage: Oaks 1-6, Madrigrano Hall, Campbell Student Union, The TARC, Tarble Arena, Todd Wehr Center, Denhart Hall, and Johnson Residence Hall.

It is important to note that while the main power will be terminated to these facilities at 8 a.m.,  the buildings will begin to be disconnected to the grid individually as early as 7 a.m. Once electrical power is restored to the campus high voltage grid, the buildings will be reconnected individually. This process may take until 3 p.m. each day. The individual disconnection/reconnection prevents a power surge within the southern portion of the campus high voltage distribution loop.

Security will perform a manual fire watch in all affected buildings during this time. Please plan for this electrical disruption in your activities for these two days. Obviously, the dates were chosen to coincide with the closing of campus for the mid-winter break and our scheduled spring break to minimize disruption to the academic calendar.

Thank you very much for your cooperation as we all work towards an improved Carthage.
