Lecturer in Public Relations, 1 Year Renewable Contract
The Communication and Digital Media Department (CDM) at Carthage College invites applications for a position in Public Relations, starting August 2018. This position is a one year contract with the option of one additional year renewal. A master’s degree in Public Relations is required, but a Ph.D. is preferred. The successful candidate will teach Public Relations courses, including Principles of Public Relations, Public Relations Writing, Communications Management, Public Relations Research Methods, and Public Relations Senior Seminar. Additionally, the successful candidate would team teach a yearly fundamental course required of all CDM students, and other Communication courses that may reflect a candidate’s expertise.
Additional requirements include a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research. The successful candidate will be expected to cultivate professional relationships in the community to foster service learning and other learning outcomes necessary for Public Relations students to engage in client-based projects. Full-time faculty also are expected to advise majors/minors and participate in department and college-wide activities, programs, and initiatives. In keeping with the mission and goals of the College, candidates should substantively discuss in their application materials how they design their courses, develop an inclusive climate in the classroom, and in other ways support a broad range of social, cultural, and learning differences to ensure that all students thrive in the classroom.
