Farewell gathering for Emily Janssen Thursday
Emily Janssen, Director of Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction, is leaving Carthage to pursue a position at Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids. Her last day will be this Friday, Nov. 17.
Emily has been part of the Carthage family for quite some time, first as a student, then joining Carthage as a staff member in September 2013. Emily’s dedication and hard work have resulted in high-quality subject tutoring, embedded tutoring, supplemental instruction, and academic coaching services for our students. Under her direction, rigorous hiring and tutor training requirements were implemented, observation and oversight methods were standardized, and robust tutoring statistics were gathered and analyzed.
Those who have worked with Emily (including a very large number of student tutors) appreciate her attention to detail, thoughtful inquiry, and high standards — all of which have helped advance tutoring services over the past four and a half years. She has been a wonderful colleague, and her presence and leadership will be missed on campus. We wish her all the best as she pursues this new opportunity!
The Office of the Associate Provost invites you to a farewell gathering honoring Emily’s service to Carthage from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16 in Hedberg Library. Join us to enjoy a piece of cake and raise a glass of lemonade to Emily as she moves on to her next adventure!
