Art faculty member Marilyn Propp will be featured in The Vital Art Project in Racine. The project, curated by Mimi Peterson, Vital Art facilitator, and is sponsored by the Racine Revitalization Partnership, Inc. Located in Racine’s Uptown neighborhood, the exhibition addresses the dramatic shift of environmental transformation caused by human activity to place, culture, public policy, self. Three empty buildings at Junction and Washington Avenues have been transformed into galleries, and curated artists are from Chicago and surrounding areas, including Kenosha, Racine, Milwaukee, New York, and Michigan. As co-founders of the Center for Collaborative Research, Prof. Propp and artist David Jones presented a pop-up printmaking and paper making demonstration, and have 11 pieces featured in the exhibit.

The exhibit runs from Sept. 30 to Oct. 31. Gallery hours are Thurs-Sat, noon-4pm. Prof. Propp and her work on this project was recently featured in a CBS58 news interview.
