Major 2017-18 events: Save the dates!

The 2017-2018 academic year will be an exciting one. We will celebrate our new president, the arrival of the Carthage Class of 2021, President John Swallow’s inauguration, and the Commencement of our newest graduates. Please take a moment to review these dates, times, and programs.

Meet the President

Civil War Museum, 5400 First Ave., Kenosha
5-7 p.m.

The Carthage community will gather to officially welcome President Swallow. This event is for Carthage faculty and staff, as well as alumni, parents, and friends of the College who live in southeast Wisconsin. Email invitations will be sent in July.

Opening Dinner for Faculty and Staff

5:30 p.m. dinner; 6:30 p.m. program

Join your colleagues for a celebratory start to the academic year. Service awards will be presented, and new Carthage faculty and staff members will be introduced. This event is open to all Carthage faculty and staff. Email invitations will be sent in early August.

New Student Convocation

This is our annual opening academic convocation welcoming our newest Carthaginians and their families to the College. Faculty will process, as is our tradition. Details on the faculty procession will be sent to faculty by email in August.

Spring Family Weekend, Celebration of Scholars, and the Inauguration of President Swallow

NOTE New dates! Inauguration! New venues!

The Celebration of Scholars and the student awards ceremony will be on Friday, April 20, in the N. E. Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center Field House.

Division and department gatherings for student honors may be hosted Saturday morning, April 21, along with the Alpha Chi and Alpha Lambda Delta induction ceremonies. Additional gatherings may be hosted on other days and times before and after the weekend.

The Inauguration of Dr. John Swallow as Carthage’s 23rd president will be held on Saturday, April 21. Plans include the Inauguration Ceremony in A. F. Siebert Chapel, followed by a reception in Hedberg Library. Related programming throughout the weekend will include a worship service, music concerts, and more.

Commencement Weekend

New Alumni Convocation and Dinner
Interfaith Baccalaureate
Commencement Ceremony

The New Alumni Convocation for graduates, trustees, faculty, and staff will begin at 5 p.m., Friday, May 25, in A. F. Siebert Chapel, followed by dinner in Hedberg Library.

Our third annual Interfaith Baccalaureate will be held on Saturday, May 26, in Siebert Chapel with a reception to follow.

The Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2018 will occur at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 27, in the TARC Field House.
