On Friday, Professor David Nield was named the 2016-2017 Adult Undergraduate Studies (AUS) Teacher of the Year at the AUS Honors Celebration.

The Adult Undergraduate Studies Teacher of the Year Award is given to a faculty member teaching in the 7-week evening program during the current academic school year. The faculty member should demonstrate excellence both in their field and in working with adult students.

Dave has been teaching at Carthage as an adjunct in the Management and Marketing Department since Fall 2012 and currently works full time as the Director of Nightingale-Conant’s Executive Coaching Division where he has been for the past five years. He has a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Notre Dame and an MBA from Georgetown University. In addition to being a duly elected Libertyville Township Trustee, in which he just won re-election last month, he has also helped over three dozen boys become Eagle Scouts as a senior scout leader, coaches Little League Football, and currently is the head of a volunteer Soup Kitchen team in Waukegan.

Quoting from a student nomination, “Professor Nield expects a lot from his adult students, and rightfully so. Some may think that subjects such as marketing and sales could be dry, but Professor Nield engages students and involves them in the process. I thoroughly enjoyed class time with him and have learned a lot about how to act in a professional environment.”

Please join the Office of Continuing Studies in congratulating Dave as the AUS Teacher of the Year!
