Theatre Department chair and associate professor of theatre Martin McClendon will be awarded the 2016 Region III Award for Innovative Teaching by the Association for Theatre in Higher Education.

Founded in 1986, the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) is a non-profit professional organization representing college and university theatre departments and administrators, faculty, graduate students, and theatre practitioners. ATHE’s mission is to support and advance the study and practice of theatre and performance in higher education. Toward that mission, ATHE grants an annual ATHE Prize for Teaching Innovation to an individual in each Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) region who has demonstrated their ability to discover new pathways for student success in the field of theatre.

Prof. McClendon has been selected for the 2016 prize. He will be recognized at the Region III KCACTF Festival in Indianapolis next week. Congratulations, Prof. McClendon!
