J-Term in Nicaragua
One of the most popular J-Term study tours at Carthage is the annual J-Term trip to Nicaragua (a biology course titled Tropical Medicine, History and Ecology of Nicaragua). Every January and June, between 20 and 40 students travel to the island of Ometepe, Nicaragua, where they spend two weeks studying tropical ecology, visiting historical sites around the island and country, and volunteering in rural medical clinics.

An Opera in 30 Days
Students in the 2011 J-Term Opera Production class pulled together a full-length production of “The Beggar’s Opera” in less than 30 days, giving the 1728 opera a modern spin and message.
