Seuss-a-thon

Carthage College holds a Seuss-a-thon on the first Saturday in March. The 16th annual Suess-a-thon was held on Saturday, March 1, 2014. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., guest enjoyed readings of Dr. Seuss books, crafts, games, and visits from Dr. Seuss characters. The Carthage Music Theatre Program presented three showings of “Seussical the Musical.”

This event, hosted by the Center for Children’s Literature and Hedberg Library, is a fundraiser for early literacy events in Kenosha and Racine counties in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

Every year, Carthage teams up with the Kenosha Public Library to support the library’s “Grow a Reader: 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” program, designed to give caregivers the support they need to read to children as often as possible, so children develop vocabulary, background knowledge, and other language and literacy skills essential for school readiness.

If you are interested in reading at Seuss-a-thon, please contact Kathy Myers at 262-551-5907 or kmyers@carthage.edu.
