Carthage Security operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Security provides parking lot shuttle service, event management support, event security, parking and traffic control, and building security. In addition, Security officers are trained in first aid, CPR, and the use of Automatic External Defibrillators.
Carthage College Security responds to:
- Medical emergencies
- Vehicle accidents
- Reports of theft
- Lost and found property
- All other service requests concerning the safety and security of our campus community
Here are ways Carthage Security keeps the campus safe:
Blue Light Telephones
There are 34 “blue light” emergency security contact phones located on campus. Their blue lights easily identify them as emergency contact phones. Simply touching the large circle on the face of the phone places you in contact with the Carthage Security Office dispatch center.

Emergency Notification Service
In the event of any threat of potential harm to students, faculty, staff, and/or campus facilities, Carthage Security would activate the College’s emergency notification system, or ENS. The ENS sends campus alerts to students, faculty, and staff by text message, email message, secondary email message, cell phone call, and secondary/home phone call.

Annual Security Report
Carthage College is required by federal law to publish an Annual Security Report by Oct. 1 of each year, prepared and distributed in compliance with The Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990.

Snow Removal Policies
With Carthage located on the shores of Lake Michigan, snow and snowstorms are a fact of life. Carthage College Security personnel will monitor the condition of the campus drives and lots.
