Professional Organizations

You’ll learn many skills in the classroom, and the professional organizations at Carthage will give you a chance to apply what you’ve learned. These groups also provide an opportunity to build contacts that will help your job experiences now and after graduation.

Carthage Accounting Association
The Carthage Accounting Association serves as a professional development and social group for accounting majors at Carthage. Events include Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, the annual alumni dinner, social events, campus speakers, and the end-of-the-year picnic.

NAfME — National Association for Music Education
The newly revived Carthage College chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) is a club devoted to the professional development of future music educators. Members of NAfME become acquainted with the responsibilities of music educators through discussion and interaction, assist Carthage and the larger community through musical projects during the academic year, and act as ambassadors of the Carthage Music Department. It is a priority of the members of NAfME to become competent and caring educators in the field of music to enrich the lives of students.

Phi Alpha Delta — Pre-Law Fraternity
Phi Alpha Delta is the world’s largest law fraternity. While many law students join PAD during their time in law school, pre-law membership is available while you are an undergraduate. Carthage is one of only three undergraduate colleges in Wisconsin to have a Phi Alpha Delta pre-law chapter. Chapter activities include providing an opportunity for students to meet and share information, organizing the annual lawyer’s forum, engaging in charitable activity, and participating in field trips and other events. PAD’s goal is to help undergraduate students make an informed choice when selecting law as a career, deciding which law school to attend, and in preparing for the rigors of law school. Phi Alpha Delta remains the only law fraternity and the only national legal organization of any kind with a national pre-law program committed to meeting the needs of undergraduate students interested in the law.

Pre-Health Club
Pre-Health club is an organization for students interested in entering a health care related field. Pre-Health club brings in speakers from medical, graduate, veterinary, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physicians assistant, pharmacy, dental, and chiropractic schools that include admissions representatives and previous Carthage students. These talks are geared toward helping students learn about different schools and better understand the admissions process and requirements. Pre-Health Club also brings upper and underclassmen together in order to give underclassmen an opportunity to ask about what courses to take and how to prepare for tests like the MCAT and GRE, and application questions. The club also gives members information about internship and shadowing opportunities.

Pre-Physician’s Assistant Club
Pre- Physician Assistant (PA) Club is focused on making students as prepared for PA school as possible, aiding in as many ways as possible to make their lives after Carthage successful. Currently, PA school is just as difficult as medical school to receive acceptance and therefore, students at Carthage need as many resources, opportunities and academic support as possible. Our goal is to keep this club up and running for as long as possible, growing the list of PA students and alumni working as physician assistant. It will allow communication between undergraduates and professionals in the healthcare field. The resources will continue to grow over the years and hopefully more Pre-PA students from Carthage will be accepted into PA school.

Association of Carthage Education Students (ACES)
ACES is for education majors and minors who wish to become more proficient and prepared for their chosen profession. Together they sponsor professional development activities on campus and educational activities for students from area schools.
