A new suite-style residence hall is expected to open in 2018.
Carthage plans to construct a new 43,000-square-foot residence hall that will house up to 126 students and set aside two floors for versatile common spaces where those across campus can gather. The eight-story tower will connect Joseph Johnson and Madrigrano Family residence halls. Crews could break ground this summer on the estimated $21.5 million project, and the construction won’t displace any existing residents.
Carthage leaders expect the new hall to welcome its first residents in 2018. The additional housing aligns with the College’s strategic plan, which calls for an enrollment increase from the current 2,600 traditional undergraduate students to 2,700 by 2019.
Suite-style housing will fill the top six floors, leaving the bottom two dedicated to shared spaces for study, relaxation, and programming.
