Professor Kevin Morris did his undergraduate work at James Madison University and received his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina. He was a Camille and Henry Dreyfus Fellow at Grinnell College before coming to Carthage. In 2012 and 2018 he spent sabbatical leaves working in the Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Prof. Morris and his research students use NMR spectroscopy to study bio-based
surfactant molecules. They also investigate how small molecules bind to chiral polymers and the protein transthyretin with both molecular modeling and dynamics simulations.

Prof. Morris’ research has been supported by the National Science Foundation and
American Chemical Society Petroleum Research Fund and has appeared in the Journal of Physical Chemistry, Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry, Journal of Surfactants and Detergents, and Chemical Physics.

At Carthage Prof. Morris teaches General Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Physics for Future Presidents. He joined the Carthage faculty in 1996.
