All Stories

The Division of Arts and Humanities, the English Department, and Sigma Tau Delta (the English honors society) invite all Carthaginians to join their spring reading group.

The book club will read George Saunders’s award-winning novel, “Lincoln in the Bardo” (2017), in preparation for President Swallow’s inaugural celebration, which will include a public conversation about the book.

The Washington Post’s review describes “Lincoln in the Bardo” as “an extended national ghost story,” and it won the prestigious Man Booker Prize for 2017. It is filled with hauntings, history, and hilarity.

We will provide the books! You just need to pick one up from Cindy Welch’s office (Lentz Hall room 241) and sign up for the club. Books will be available by Wednesday, Feb. 28. Spend Spring Break with a good book and then discuss it over pizza with fellow readers in the weeks leading up to inauguration.
