Mr. Joseph Signorelli, managing partner at Chicago-based RCM Alternatives, recently welcomed Professor Alex Lau from the Accounting and Finance Department, to the RCM University Program Advisory Board. The Board’s mission is to provide advice and guidance to RCM’s University Program, which endeavors to develop and nurture educational and professional connections between academia and the financial industry. Board members include industry professionals and educators from graduate and undergraduate programs across the country. Carthage has taken part in the RCM University Program since the fall of 2015.

Prior to teaching at Carthage, Professor Lau had a corporate career in New York where he held positions at Citibank, McKinsey & Company, and the Blackstone Group. His experience in the financial services industry spans the fields of commercial banking, investment banking, management consulting, software engineering, and trading in equity, equity options, futures, and forex. Most recently, as an adjunct professor, Lau teaches Financial Management, Security and Portfolio Analysis, and an advanced seminar in Financial Markets Research. In spring 2018, Prof. Lau will lead another Financial Markets Research seminar, and he’ll teach an advanced course on financial derivatives, and a course on trading equity, equity options, futures, and spot FX. The latter two courses are new offerings in the Accounting and Finance Department. He will also serve as faculty advisor to Carthage student teams in the spring 2018 Bloomberg Trading Challenge (equities) and the CME Trading Challenge (futures).

On Prof. Lau’s appointment to the RCM University Program Advisory Board, Mr. Signorelli said, “Alex Lau has been an integral part of the University Program for many years. His unique perspective as both an educator as well as a successful industry professional is an immense value add to the board. RCM looks forward to all the great things to come from this program, and has Professor Lau to thank in large part for where it is today.”
