Carthage invites families to campus April 19-22 for a special Spring Family Weekend that will include the Inauguration of Dr. John R. Swallow as the 23rd President of Carthage College.

Thursday, April 19
Special Presentation: Mime-matics with Timothy and Tanya Chartier
7:30 p.m., N. E. Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center Field House
Davidson College mathematics and computer science professor Timothy Chartier regularly gives talks on relevant topics and fields math questions for the “Sport Science” program on ESPN. He and his wife teach mathematics through mime in special presentations that have been featured in the New York Times.
Friday, APril 20
‘Lincoln in the Bardo’ Book Discussion with President Swallow and Special Guest Adam Ross
1:30 p.m., Campbell Student Union Auditorium
Adam Ross is an author whose debut novel, “Mr. Peanut,” earned recognition as a top book of the year from the New York Times and several other publications. He will join President Swallow for a discussion of George Saunders’ new (and debut) novel.
Celebration of Scholars Poster Exhibition
4-5:45 p.m., N. E. Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center Field House
This special exhibition of research and scholarship features work by Carthage students and faculty. Students will present their senior theses, SURE projects, and exemplary scholarly and creative works completed in a course or through independent research with a faculty mentor.
Mentalist Eric Dittelman

Ever wonder what it would be like to know what someone else was thinking? What if you knew exactly what people were going to do before they did it? Eric Dittelman knows what that’s like and has been reading minds across the country.

A celebratory dinner will be held immediately after the ceremony, and your Carthage student is invited to attend the dinner as your guest. A kid zone staffed by Carthage students will be available for your younger children. Your inauguration invitation will provide additional details.
